Structure
COQL USA - 58 teams
Stage 1 – Weeks 1-5
There will be 8 groups of 6 and 1 group of 10. The groups of 6 will play a round robin. The group of 10 will each play 5 matches against other members of their group. We will ensure each team's strength of schedule is as evenly matched as possible. In the group of 10 the teams who finish 1st and 2nd will be classed as group winners, 3rd and 4th classed as 2nd place, 5th and 6th classed as 3rd place. 7th classed as 4th place, 8th classed as 5th place and 9th and 10th classed as 6th place. These placings will be important for Stage 2 placing.
Qualification
The 10 teams classed as group winners plus the 2 best runners-up will move to Division 1. The remaining 8 runners-up and 4 best third placed teams go to Division 2. The remaining 6 third placed teams and the 6 best fourth placed teams go to Division 3. The remaining 3 4th placed teams and all 9 5th placed teams go to Division 4 and all 10 of the 6th placed teams go to Division 5.
Stage 2 – Weeks 6-10
Divisions 1-4 are in two groups of 6 and will play a round robin in their groups.
Division 5 will be one group of 10 playing 5 matches each and again we will try to ensure that everyone's strength of schedule is the same.
Qualification
- In Division 1 the top 4 in each group progress to the quarter-finals.
- In Divisions 2-4 the top 2 in each group progress to the semi-finals
- In Division 5 the top 4 progress to the semi finals.
Stage 3 – Weeks 11-13
These games are straight knock out matches, all teams eliminated in stage 2 will play placement games. All teams will play either knock out games or placement games in Weeks 11 and 12 but only Division 1 teams will be playing in Week 13.
The four Division 1 teams who do not make the knock out stage will play a round robin in weeks 11-13.
COQL UK - 98 teams
Stage 1 – Weeks 1-5
There will be 13 groups of 6 and 2 groups of 10. The groups of 6 will play a round robin. The group of 10 will each play 5 matches against other members of their group. We will ensure each team's strength of schedule is as evenly matched as possible. In the group of 10 the teams who finish 1st and 2nd will be classed as group winners, 3rd and 4th classed as 2nd place, 5th and 6th classed as 3rd place. 7th classed as 4th place, 8th classed as 5th place and 9th and 10th classed as 6th place. These placings will be important for Stage 2 placing.
Qualification
The 17 teams classed as group winners plus the 7 best runners-up will move to Division 1. The remaining 10 runners-up and 14 best third placed teams go to Division 2. The remaining 3 third placed teams, all the fourth placed teams and the best 6 5th placed teams go to Division 3. The remaining 26 teams go to Division 4.
Division 1 Stage 2 – Weeks 6–10
The 24 Division 1 teams will be placed in 4 pools of 6 playing a round robin over 5 weeks.
Qualification – the top 2 in each pool move to the Quarter-finals and everyone else goes to placement games.
Divisions 2 and 3 Stage 2 – Weeks 6-8
The 24 Division 2 and 24 division 3 teams are placed in 6 groups of 4 and play a round robin over 3 weeks.
Qualification
The top 2 in each group plus the best 4 3rd placed teams move to the knock out stage. The remaining teams go to the placement matches
Division 4 Stage 2 – Weeks 6-8
The 26 teams will be in 5 groups of 4 and one group of 6. The teams in the groups of 4 play a round robin. The group of 6 play 3 matches each against other members of this group with each team having a similar strength of schedule. The teams finishing 1st and 2nd will be classed as group winners, the team in 3rd classed as runners-up, the team in 4th classed as 3rd place and the teams in 5th and 6th classed as 4th place.
Qualification
The 7 group winners, the 6 2nd placed teams and the best 3 3rd placed teams move to the knock out stage. The remaining teams go to placement matches
Division 1 Stage 3 – Weeks 11-13
These games are straight knock out matches, all teams eliminated in stage 2 will play placement games. Teams eliminated in knock out stage will play placement games for the remaining weeks.
During these weeks the 16 D1 teams who do not make the knock out stage will play in 4 groups of 4 playing round robins for final positions
Divisions 2-4 Stage 3 – Weeks 9-12
These games are straight knock out matches, all teams eliminated in stage 2 will play placement games. Teams eliminated in knock out stage will play placement games for the remaining weeks.
The 8 teams in D2 and D3 who do not make the knock out stage will be in one group of 8 teams each playing 4 matches to determine final placements.
The 10 teams in D4 who do not make the knock out stage will be in one group of 10 teams each playing 4 matches to determine final placements.
