What an incredible year it has been at the Online Quiz League and right now there is so much going on that it makes sense to detail all of it in a newsletter.

Firstly we wanted to tell you all about this exciting event that is coming in July 2024.

OQL have hired out the Blackpool Hotel and Conference Centre for the weekend of July 26th-28th 2024. There will be three days of incredibly fun quizzing, the currently announced quizzes are as follows:

  • Individual subject quizzes
  • Pairs speed quiz
  • Best of British OQL individual written quiz
  • Regions championship
  • All audio music quiz
  • Connections Online Quiz League event
  • Buzzer quiz room

There is likely to be more added to this event and for just £125* you can have three days of fun quizzing action as well as a fully catered party on the Saturday night.

We have also negotiated a discounted room rate with the hotel so you’ll be able to stay at a beautiful 4 star hotel for a very reasonable price.

We are currently working on the website for this event and will shortly announce the website as soon as registration is open.

(*£125 is the Discounted early bird rate, registrations after February 2024 will pay £140)

It feels like only recently that we were crowning Evan Lynch the champion of Pop Culture Challenge (PCC) Season 6 but Season 7 is already open for registration.

This is one of OQL’s most popular quiz and covers all the pop culture subjects such as sport, TV, film, music, celebrities, food and drink and many many more. You’ll never need to know your world capitals or who composed what symphony.

The competition begins on Monday 29th January and the deadline to register is Saturday 27th January. Entry fee is just £30, or £25 for debut players and for that you’ll play 9 weeks of exciting quizzes against players of similar abilities and one in 16 players will end the competition with a trophy.

These two teams and 14 others are gearing up for the 3rd annual COQL world championships.

In 2023 OQL ran three individual written quizzes where over 400 different players sat down at the same time to answer the same questions and we crowned overall champions as well as individual subject champions.

Due to popular demand, we have introduced a full circuit of these events and will be running 8 of them across the year in a competition called Live VIII.

Our first event of the year takes place on January 20th at venues all around the country and you can read full details at

Each event costs just £11 (with a £2 surcharge for London). Players can also pay for multiple events at once to receive a discount and then select your events month by month. The discounts are as follows:

  • 4 events = £40 (£48 for London)
  • 7 events = £65 (£79 for London)

We will also be including a ranking system for these events and also for each subject within the events so you can track your performances against your peers and track your progress in all subjects and overall.

So as you can see, it is a very exciting time to be a part of OQL and we really hope to see you at many of our 2024 events. If you have any questions about any of the above events, or about anything OQL related, please just drop us a line at

Best wishes,

The OQL Team
