Online Quiz League UK - Newsletter - 2024-07
OQL Season 13 is coming to an end but there are now lots of exciting things happening across OQL with registration opening for other events so here is our July 2024 newsletter. Firstly, we must begin with an announcement regarding pricing changes
Price changes
Ever since OQL launched in 2020 it has been important to us that we offer quality quiz products at an affordable price. Unfortunately, we are not immune to increased costs and expenses and therefore we are announcing a price increase to a few products. These price increases will be effective from the next season of each competition.
OQL UK
Entry is increasing from £70 a season to £85 a season. Teams can still pay for multiple seasons at once to receive a discount; these costs will now be £165 for 2 seasons, £240 for 3 seasons or £310 for 4 seasons. Any team who has paid for multiple seasons at the previous rates will have these prices honoured. New teams will still pay just £55 for their debut season. These rates will be introduced prior to OQL 14 which commences in September.
Pop Culture Challenge
Entry is increasing from £30 to £35 per player per season. This will be implemented for our next season commencing in September.
International Culture Challenge
Entry is changing from having the option to pay £30, $35 or €32.50 to a flat £35 entry for every player. Due to fluctuating currency rates some players were paying less than others, and this seems unfair, so it is now a flat £35 for everyone. Players will still be able to pay in their own currency and PayPal will convert this to GBP for you. This will take effect for ICC 8 which will commence in November of this year.
Others
All other competitions will remain at their current price. OQL Live VIII will be reviewed towards the end of the year and may be restructured for 2025. Connections Online Quiz League entry fee will remain at £165 for UK teams and $220 for US teams.
We don’t like increasing our prices and we hope to maintain these new prices for as long as possible and of course, any future increases will be communicated as soon as possible. And now on to details about ongoing and upcoming OQL events.
Pop Culture Challenge
Season 8 of Pop Culture Challenge is now OPEN for registration! Our hugely popular individual quiz which focuses solely on the pop culture side of quiz, film, tv, pop music, sport, celebs, food and drink and much much more will start on September 2nd and registration is open until the end of August. Registration is just £35 per player, or if this is your first season you’ll get a discounted entry of just £25.
