Welcome to the page for OQL Live VIII! A series of individual written quizzes taking places at venues across the country on 8 months of the year. Here you can see the full schedule for the year and register for the upcoming event or register for all remaining events in a calendar year to receive a discount.

Entry fee for each event is just £11 (with a £2 surcharge for London) and for that you will get a full day of quizzing fun, the expected schedule for each event is listed below.

Approximate schedule for the day of each quiz is as follows (at some venues times may vary slightly)

11:00 – Arrive

11:30 – Quiz begins

13:15 – Quiz ends, marking begins

14:00 – Marking ends – lunch

15:00 – Fun team quizzes

17:00 – Expected finish time but some venues may continue quizzing later.

There are 8 events across the year and here is the full schedule and who will be writing the quizzes for those events.

January 20th - Aidan Linge

February 24th - Rachel Clark and Alexia Jarvis

March 23rd - OQL World Championships written by Rob Hannah

April 27th - Andrew and Frankie Fanko

June 29th - Innis Carson and Jon Stitcher

July 27th - Best of British and Irish quiz written by Aaron Linge. This event will form part of the OQL British Quiz Weekender so there will be fewer separate venues.

September 28th - Jack Bennett

October 26th - Lauren Hamer and Lucy Reynolds

The categories are the standard 8 OQL categories with a few minor changes. All questions will be written by Aidan Linge and edited by Rob Hannah and you can see the category distribution below.

-We are excited to announce the full details of the inaugural OQL Individual Championships!

-The event will take place at venues around the UK on the 25th March 2023. We will aim for each venue to start around 11:30am. The cost will be £10 per person, with the exception of our Dublin venue which will cost €12. Players will have 90 minutes to answer 200 questions and at the end of the day we will crown an overall champion as well as our 8 category champions. Each venue will be provided with a fun team quiz for the afternoon but they are all welcome to provide whatever afternoon entertainment they wish.

 Each category will have a nearest the bull tie-breaker and there will be an overall tie-breaker as well.
-There are 14 confirmed venues around the UK. Registration will open next week and will be via our website. Players will select their venue, book themselves on and then transfer the entry fee over to us. Everyone must pay in advance, there will be no payments on the day and we'll need to know numbers in advance for printing and capacity reasons. We will be allowing our proctors to play, there will be rigorous security measures in place to ensure that no one accesses the quiz prior to the event starting. OQL will cover all venue costs so no venue will be more expensive than any other. Here are the 12 venues and the host in charge of each whom you can contact for any venue specific questions

-Ireland – Terenure Badminton Centre in Dublin hosted by Dan O'Malley 30 places available
-North West England – Cross Keys pub in Liverpool City Centre hosted by Jon Stitcher and Dave Trent – 45 places available
-North England – Idle Working Mens Club in Bradford hosted by Tony Sissons – 40 places available
-North England – Crookes Social Club in Sheffield hosted by Lewis Jones – 36 Places available
-West Midlands – Bishop Challoner Catholic College in Kings Heath, Birmingham hosted by John Robinson – 25 places available but space for more if demand is there.
-East Midlands – Market Harborough RUFC in Leicestershire hosted by Stuart Beard – 40 places available.
-South East – New Queen Victoria Pub in Milton Keynes hosted by Lauren Hamer – 50 places available
-Home Counties – The Old Barge in Hertford hosted by David Stainer – 22 places available
-Home Counties - Langleybury Cricket Club, Langleybury Lane, Hunton Bridge, Herts. WD4 8RJ hosted by Eddie Gunning - 20 places available
-London – Halley House School in Hackney – hosted by Ronny Jackson 60 Places available - THIS VENUE IS NOW FULL
-Kent - Unicorn Inn, 61 St Dunstan's Street, Canterbury, Kent, CT28BS hosted by Steve Lilley - 40 places available
-If anyone else would like to host a venue then let us know, we'd especially welcome a South Coast venue and/or a South West England venue.
-All venues will be first come first served so get yourselves registered as soon as possible. Registration should open early next week and we will give plenty of warning before we open. The website will also give further details about each venue, such as food, accessibility and whether we'll be displaying the answers on a big screen. Also – if anyone has any special requirements at all please contact Aidan Linge or Jon Stitcher directly to discuss these and we will do everything within our power to accommodate you.
