Thank you everyone for your patience with us this week as we work out how best to take OQL USA forwards.

We are now actively seeking to fill the roles below to enable OQL USA to continue to operate.

The roles are listed below. The role of Commissioner will be filled first as we would like for the Commissioner to be involved in the recruitment process for the other roles.

Mykal Duffy is a Training Manager with 25 years’ experience of recruitment and interviewing and has kindly offered to conduct the first stage of interviews and will be working alongside Amy Rey. In addition to her professional expertise as a market researcher, Amy has invaluable experience working with the quizzing community in her role as Friendly Coordinator.

In your initial email please indicate which role(s) you would like to be considered for.

Deadline to register for all roles will be Monday 4th March

Commissioner

The Commissioner will be responsible for the day to day organising, administration and successful running of all OQL USA competitions (OQL USA, Regions and Pop Solos). This includes determining format, divisions and scheduling.

The Commissioner will be the face of OQL USA and will be the main point of contact for all questions about OQL USA and will be responsible for all communications to be shared around the league.

The Commissioner will work closely with the competition editors to ensure that OQL USA puts out the best possible content.

The Commissioner will work with Jon Stitcher to look at ways to promote and expand the OQL USA brand.

Skills required

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A strong knowledge of OQL and its various competitions

Preferred skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Social Media Experience

Remuneration

This will be discussed with the successful candidate

Editors

We are looking for editors for each of OQL USA, Pop Solos and OQL USA: Regions. We are looking for a separate editor for each competition.

The Editor will have ultimate responsibility for the content produced by that competition. They will work with the Commissioner to assign a writing squad for each season and advise each writer on their responsibilities for the season.

The Editor collates the question sets each week and will create diverse, appropriate sets with clear, accurate and balanced questions.

The Editor will provide feedback to the writing team about the questions and will help to create a system to ensure that sets meet the above descriptions.

Skills required

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of the competition for which you are editing.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of working with Microsoft office and/or Google Docs

Preferred skills

  • Experience of copy editing

Remuneration

This will be discussed with successful candidates.

Play testing co-ordinator (PTC)

The PTC will work with the Commissioner and Editors to create a system whereby questions are suitably reviewed prior to going live.

The PTC will work on all of Regions, Pop Solos and OQL USA.

It is a requirement that there will be some form of live playtesting involved.

PTC will relay the findings of the playtesting to the Editor and writing team who will then make whatever changes they deem suitable.

Skills required

  • Excellent communication skills.
