Languages
This section is not yet functional. See below for the intended process. Once it works, this notice will be removed.
The aim is to facilitate the creation of multilingual sets, with tools to simplify the translation process.
Add or remove the language(s) the set uses for questions and/or answers.
For every language you add, additional rows in the Q & A will be added according to the base language.
If you remove a language, its rows will be deactivated in the Q & A, so take care to avoid losing rows you need.
Every Q & A block must use at least one language, so if you only use one language, the remove button won't appear.
Language(s) used:
Q & A
Toolbox
- There will be a button here to add things like "half-time, order of answering switches" before round 5 and round 9 instructions if a tiebreaker is needed.
- Map subjects A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H to ... (button(s) to come, will include popular distributions)
Notes
If the quiz has rounds, you can use this section to add notes before and after them.
Permissions
This is about having granular set security, restricting access to a set to specific times and making sets public. The permissions will integrate with re-written reading and scoring tools.
Only share the web address of this page with other editors. If you want to share the set for testing, use the Share button.
Things that work
- The setter can apply a Read permission in advance of a match period, which will still require the input of the home and away password halves. This is to eliminate the need to upload sets, and allow integration of questions into the rebuilt scorer.
- If the set is Public with a date and timezone, and the time has passed, it will be viewable at: https://quizcentral.net/quizzes.html
- If the From date of a permission is blank, it will never be applied.
- If the Person name is blank, the permission will be universal. e.g. to automate the public release of a set.
Plans (methods not yet added)
- A player in a tournament signing up to read a match can be granted permission from a specific date and time so they don't see the set before their own match.
- If an email is not provided, the person must have a QuizCentral.net account that equals the Name, and the permission will be granted to the earliest registration of a person with that name (to thwart imposters) or to the only player with that name on a pre-approved list.
- Account Since is to make sure an imposter, normally with a Read permission, has not recently created an account in order to access the set. New readers can be checked to make sure they are not a puppet acount of a player.
- A check button will be added to validate permissions, e.g. to make sure they are granted to users who exist.
- Contact administration if you need to create multiple permissions on multiple sets. This may be necessary for a tournament.
