Rising from the ashes of The Scrabblers in season 3… Liam Thom & Patrick Pamment set off on a journey to assemble the greatest quiz team known to man with one thing in common;

Facial Hair.

A whip around their local areas and their Learned League groups seen the recruitment of Steve Law, Rob Anderson and Chris Parsons of which, four ticked the box for the required level of facial hair and Trivially Hirsute were formed.

In season 4, following the demise of Rob’s availability, James Stirling Wilson was recruited and the side finished 3rd in division 6B before cementing their top half status post-split by finishing 4th of 8.

Season 5 came around and sadly both Rob & Steve moved onto pastures new.  They however were replaced by Benny Bielstein (whom Liam had written a friendly with the previous season) and George Barton, a regular on the QLL circuit with Paddy.  Sadly, the lack of facial hair on the new recruits, combining with the poor attempts made by James & Chris, meant the team was Not So Trivially Hirsute as Season 5 and a switch in team name occurred.

The pressure to not keep facial hair for the millions watching on zoom worked wonders as despite a loss to Kentish Men post-split, NSTH managed to win Division 6 at the second attempt.

With that success, the cream of quizland’s finest swamped the inbox of skipper Liam - who expanded the squad for a busy winter in season 6.  Harry Scully (former skipper of Third Degree Vern) and Callum Mcclements (former skipper of Up The Lagan In A Bubble & now studying in Aberdeen) joined Rob Hanson of Pointless fame to fill out what now was a very competitive looking side.

Squad rotation was key in season 6 and the American knowledge of Chris Parsons and the more senior knowledge of Benny Bielstein proved imperative as NSTH once again challenged for promotion.  This season however, Kentish Men’s victory over NSTH resulted in a title for the men, who are Kentish and it was NSTH who had to settle for second place but gaining back to back promotions with our friends from Kent.

After an illustrious 4 season spell, Paddy Pamment moved onwards and upwards, joining Disparite Origins for Season 7 in division 2 while Liam, still captaining, will miss most of season 7 due to the outdoor bowls season.  As a result, the side has been bolstered by the arrivals of Benny Meyers & Kier Johnston.  Benny helps ensure the American knowledge is covered each week alongside Chris Parsons, whilst Kier has settled in nicely for his first season as NSTH look to cement their place in a tough Division 4.
