What's this competition then?

This is an individual quiz contest played over Zoom and using Speed Quizzing software.

What do I need to compete?

You will need to use two devices, a laptop/desktop with a webcam so you can be seen on Zoom and then a mobile phone/tablet so that you can access the Speed Quizzing Life App.

When does it run?

We start at 12 noon but advise that you log in a bit earlier than that. The competition will last 4 hours with plenty of breaks and roughly 200 questions

How much does it cost?

Cost is £10 to be paid in advance via PayPal.me/OQL

Can I win anything?

Yes! There are cash prizes for the top 3 players and the player who is fastest the most often. There will also be spot prizes to be won throughout the day.

Can we enter as a team?

No, this is an individual competition, two of you can appear on the Zoom room together but there is no conferring.

How does the quiz work?

Our professional host will read the questions out, as soon as he starts speaking you can answer the question. For most questions you just press the first letter of the answer. Other questions have slight differences which will be explained.

But what counts as the first letter of the answer?

We always go by first letter of the first name and we always ignore definite articles. So for David Beckham you would answer D for David. For The King and I you would answer K for King.

How does the scoring work?

It is 20 points for every correct answer and you can score up to 20 points for being in the fastest 20 players to answer each question.

I've paid my £10, what now?

Thank you! A few days before the competition you will be emailed with the Zoom link to play the quiz. Do not share this with anyone. You should download the Speed Quizzing app in advance of the game, this can be downloaded from the App Store or Google store. At the start of the Zoom call everyone will be given the code to enter into the app which will enter them into the game.

Can I talk during the quiz?

We will have over 100 entrants so we'll have to mute you all or it would be crazy. If you want to say anything after being the fastest to answer you may turn you mic on for a brief comment.
